General settings
General settings hold your company's basic details and the workspace-wide defaults that the rest of Site Connect relies on: the time zone, the currency, and how new employees get their email and password. Check this page once when you set up your workspace, and again whenever your company details change.
Menu: ›
Where to find it
Menu: System › General settings · Address: hub.siteconnect.ai/settingsWho can use it: Admins and managers can change these settings. Other people may be able to open the page, but they can't save changes — saving needs the Edit permission on the Settings row. See Roles and permissions.
Nothing on this page takes effect until you select Save settings (top right). You'll see Settings saved! when it worked.
Your workspace at a glance
The top of the page sums up your workspace:
- Workspace time zone: … — the city of your workspace time zone and the local time there right now, plus your workspace currency (for example · Currency: CAD). Select Change time zone to jump to the time zone field.
- Workspace ID — your workspace's short ID. Click it to copy it (Workspace ID copied). Give it to support so they can find your workspace quickly. See Workspaces.
- Storage — how much file storage you've used out of your plan's allowance. The bar turns amber as it fills and red when it's Full. Not activated means storage isn't set up for the workspace yet. For details, see Storage.
- Active users — how many people are active out of the seats in your plan. Over quota means you're using more seats than your plan includes; No package yet means no plan is active. See Plans and billing.
Set your workspace time zone
The workspace time zone decides how Site Connect reads every time of day: due times, the Scheduling board, worked hours and "today". New workspaces take the time zone of the computer you signed up on, so check it — especially if you signed up while traveling.
- Select Change time zone in the banner at the top, or scroll to the time zone field under Company information.
- Open the list and pick your zone. You can type to search, for example Toronto. The Canadian zones are America/St Johns, America/Halifax, America/Toronto, America/Winnipeg, America/Regina, America/Edmonton and America/Vancouver.
- Check the line under the field — it shows the city and the current local time there.
- Select Save settings.
When the time zone changes, tasks on the Scheduling board keep their clock times: a task planned for 7:00 still starts at 7:00, now in the new time zone (unless the Scheduling board has its own time zone in its settings).
Set it before you schedule
Choose the right time zone before you start building schedules, so nobody sees due times shift under them. Once someone has saved this page, the workspace time zone only changes when you change it here.
Update your company details
Under Company information:
- Fill in Company name, Email, Phone number, Tax ID, Primary address and Website.
- To add your logo, select Change logo and choose an image file (up to 5 MB). Use Remove logo to take it off.
- Under Legal representative, choose a Salutation (Mr., Mrs., Ms. …) and enter the person's Full name and job title.
- Select Save settings.
Add branch offices or yard addresses
Under Additional addresses, select Add address, then fill in Address name (for example Main yard), Address, Email and Phone number. Use the bin icon on an address to remove it. Save when you're done.
Choose the workspace currency
Workspace currency (under Company information) is used for every money figure in your workspace, such as project profit and loss and labour cost rates. New Site Connect workspaces start in CAD. The hint under the field shows an example amount in the currency you pick. Select Save settings after changing it.
Decide how new employees get an email address
The Email on employee creation section controls the Email field on the Add employee form (see Employees). Pick one option:
- The admin enters the email at creation — the field starts empty and you type each person's email. New workspaces use this option. Employees sign in with this exact email, so use the personal email they check every day.
- Auto-generate company emails by rule — Site Connect suggests an address from the person's name. Choose an Email naming rule (for example smithj@domain (surname + initials)) and enter your Company email domain, such as yourcompany.com. If two people end up with the same address, a number is added (for example smithj1).
Use your real domain
Sample domains such as company.com or example.com are refused — they would create addresses nobody can receive mail at. If you don't have a company domain, keep The admin enters the email at creation.
Set the default password for new employees
Under Default password for new users, enter the password used when you choose Default in the Add employee form. Use at least 8 characters, including digits and a special character. Select the eye icon to show or hide it. Change it from time to time, and ask people to change their password after their first sign-in.
Set HR defaults for the Add employee form
The HR section sets what the Add employee form starts with:
- Default probation contract when adding employees — when ticked, the form preselects a probation contract of up to 60 days. When unticked (the default for new workspaces), no probation contract is preselected and the contract end date is optional.
- Pay basis — Hourly cost (the default for new workspaces) asks for a cost per hour, which is used to work out project labour costs. Monthly salary asks for the monthly salary on the contract.
Good to know
- Language is personal. Each person picks their own language from their avatar menu — it isn't a workspace setting. See Personal settings and profile.
- Check-in distance is set on each project or location, not here. See Project profile and Locations.
- SMTP configuration can stay empty. Site Connect sends its own emails (such as invitations) and doesn't use these settings.
