Holidays

Holidays is your company's calendar of days off for everyone — statutory holidays such as Canada Day or Labour Day, and days your company closes, such as the week between Christmas and New Year. Site Connect uses this list on timesheets and when you schedule work.

Where to find it

Menu: HR › Holidays (under Leave) · Address: hub.siteconnect.ai/holidaysWho can use it: Admins by default. Others need the View permission for Holidays to open the page, and Create, Edit or Delete for Holidays to change the list — see Roles and permissions.

Check your list first

A new workspace starts with a few holidays already entered for the current year. They may not match the holidays your company observes. Open the List tab, delete the ones that don't apply, and add your own.

See the year at a glance

  1. Pick the year from the list at the top of the page.
  2. The Month calendar tab shows all twelve months:
    • red — a National / Company holiday,
    • orange — a Make-up working day,
    • grey — Weekend,
    • white — a Working day.
  3. Hover over a coloured day to see the holiday's name, or click it to see its details with Edit and Delete buttons.

The boxes above the calendar count the Total holidays (in days) and how many entries of each type you have.

Prefer a table? Open the List tab. It shows each holiday's name and description, Start date, End date, number of Days, Type, and whether it's Paid and Yearly, with edit and delete buttons at the end of the row.

Add a holiday

  1. Click Add holiday at the top of the page — or, on the Month calendar, click the day and then Add holiday (the date is filled in for you).
  2. Enter the Holiday name, for example Thanksgiving.
  3. Set the Start date. For a holiday that lasts several days, also set the End date; leave it empty for a single day.
  4. Choose the Holiday type:
    • National holiday — a statutory or public holiday,
    • Company holiday — a day your company decides to close,
    • Make-up working day.
  5. Leave Paid ticked if people are paid for the day.
  6. Tick Repeats yearly for a holiday that falls every year, and add a Description if useful.
  7. Click Create holiday. You see Holiday created.

Change or delete a holiday

  • Edit: click the pencil on the List tab (or click the day on the calendar and choose Edit), make your changes in Edit holiday, then click Save changes.
  • Delete: click the bin on the List tab (or Delete on the calendar), then confirm Delete holiday "…"?. You see Holiday deleted.

Where holidays are used

  • Timesheets — a holiday appears as Public holiday on the weekly and monthly timesheets, so the day isn't counted as an absence. Paid holidays aren't counted as working days in the timesheet totals, and a leave request that spans a paid holiday doesn't count that day as leave. See Timesheets.
  • Scheduling — by default, the Scheduling board reminds you when you give someone work on a holiday. Working on a holiday is allowed; the reminder just makes sure you meant it.
  • Recurring tasks — a repeating task can be set to Skip public holidays, so no task is created on those days. See Tasks.
  • Timesheet credit rules — a working day covered by a paid holiday doesn't count as an unexcused absence. See Timesheet credit rules.

Good to know

  • Every entry counts as a day off. Whatever its type, each entry on this page is treated as a holiday on timesheets and in scheduling — including a Make-up working day. Only add days on which your company is actually closed.
  • Add each year's holidays. Repeats yearly is a label only: Site Connect doesn't copy the holiday into the next year. Before a new year starts, pick that year at the top and enter its holidays.
  • Don't use the Create default holiday calendar button. It loads a preset list of holidays that isn't for Canada, and it replaces every holiday you've already entered for the selected year.
  • Holidays aren't leave. They never come out of anyone's annual leave balance and don't appear on Leave.
