The Site Connect app
The Site Connect app is built for the people out in the field. Open it to see the tasks you're assigned, check in when you arrive on site, take photos and voice notes, see the hours you've logged, send requests such as time off, and chat with your crew. Office staff use it too — to approve requests and follow tasks on the go.
At a glance
Get it: search Site Connect in the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android) — see Get the mobile app. Languages: English, Español, Français. Who can use it: everyone who has a Site Connect account in your workspace. You can't sign up from the app — your administrator adds you first.
The app opens on the sign-in screen, titled Welcome back. Pick one of these:
- Sign in with your phone — the main option for field crews. Type the mobile number your company has on file, tap Send code, then type the Verification code you receive by text message and tap Log in. Canada and the United States both use +1, so just type your 10-digit number. You can ask for a new code after the countdown ends (Resend code).
- Sign in with a password — type your Company email and Password, then tap Log in. Forgot it? Tap Forgot password? to get a reset link by email.
- Continue with Google or, on iPhone, Continue with Apple.
No account yet?
The sign-in screen says it: No account yet? Please ask your workspace administrator to create one. If you received an invitation email, open it first to join the workspace, then sign in here. See Employee invitations and Sign in and reset your password.
If your account belongs to more than one workspace, you'll see Choose workspace right after you sign in. Pick the company you want to work in — you can switch later from the Personal tab (see Workspaces).
The first time you open the app
- Time zone. If your profile doesn't have a time zone yet, the app asks Which time zone do you work in? It shows the zone your phone is set to. Tap That’s right, use this one, or Pick a different time zone. Task deadlines and working days are counted in this time zone.
- Notifications. Right after you sign in, your phone asks whether Site Connect may send you notifications. Allow it so you hear about new tasks, approvals and messages.
- Location, camera and microphone. The app asks for these the first time you need them — location when you check in or take a job-site photo, the camera when you take a photo, the microphone when you record a voice note.
The bottom menu
The bar at the bottom of the screen holds up to six tabs. The first tab is the screen the app opens on. Unless your administrator has changed it, you'll see:
| Tab | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Task | Your tasks, day by day. Open a task to accept it, check in and add photos. See Tasks and check-in. |
| My work | The hours and site visits you've logged. See Work log. |
| Project | Your company's projects and everything in them. See Projects. |
| Chat | Messages with coworkers and groups. See Chat. |
| Approvals | Send requests and approve other people's. See Approvals. |
| Personal | Your profile, language, workspaces and Log out. See Profile. |
Two more tabs can be added: Schedule (your scheduled tasks, open tasks and availability — see Schedule) and Attendance (clock in and out of company shifts — see Attendance).
Who decides what's on the menu? Your administrator sets the default menu for the whole workspace on the web, under System › Mobile app (see Mobile app menu). They choose which tabs are required for everyone and which ones people may add themselves. Personal is always there, because that's where you switch workspace and sign out.
Arrange your own menu. If your administrator allows it, you can reorder your tabs, remove optional ones, or add the extra ones you're allowed — on the web, under your avatar › Personal settings › Mobile app (see Personal settings and profile). The app picks up the new menu the next time you open it or come back to it.
Numbers on the tabs
A red number on Task is how many of your tasks are overdue. On Approvals it's the requests waiting for you. On Chat it's your unread messages.
Change the language
You can switch between English, Español and Français:
- Before you sign in: tap the language button at the top right of the sign-in screen.
- After you sign in: go to Personal › Display language.
The app restarts to apply the new language.
Notifications
Site Connect sends push notifications for things like a task assigned to you, a task coming due, an approval waiting for you or decided, and new chat messages. Tap a notification to jump straight to that task, request or conversation.
- Notifications only come from the workspace you have open. If you're signed in to several workspaces, switch to the other one to get its notifications.
- To mute one noisy conversation, use the chat options (see Chat).
- To turn all Site Connect notifications on or off, use your phone's notification settings.
Working with no signal
Job sites often have weak or no signal. The app is built for that:
- Photos, videos, voice notes — and attendance clock-ins if your company uses the Attendance tab — are saved on your phone and sent automatically when you're back online.
- A thin bar above the bottom menu tells you what's going on: Offline — will sync automatically once you're back online, Syncing…, All synced, or a red bar if something couldn't be sent.
- Tap the red bar to open Unsent items. For each item you can tap Retry or Discard, or Retry all.
- Task lists, task details, approvals and your chat list stay readable from the last time they loaded. A task may show The data may not be up to date until you're back online.
Check-in needs a connection
Checking in and out of a task is sent to Site Connect right away. If you have no signal, the check-in won't go through — move to a spot with signal and tap again.
Good to know
- Pull down on any list to refresh it.
- On a tablet or an unfolded phone, lists and details show side by side.
- When a new version is out, the app may show Update the app. Some updates are optional (Later); others are required to keep using the app.
- Your app version is shown at the bottom of the Personal tab — handy when you contact support.
