6Check in on the mobile app
This is your crew's part. On the Site Connect app, each person sees the tasks you gave them, accepts them, checks in when they arrive on site and checks out when they leave. Check-ins become their hours on the job. Share this page with your crew, or walk through it together on their first morning.
In the app: › ›
Before you start
- The app is installed and signed in — see Get the mobile app.
- Check-in is turned on for the project — an admin ticks Enable check-in for this project on the project's Settings tab (step 3). Without it, the task has no check-in card.
- The task is assigned to the person and, if it's a scheduled task, published (step 5).
- Location is allowed for Site Connect on the phone, and the phone has a data connection.

What can stop a check-in: check-in turned off for the project, the project's check-in days (not before the start date, or only on the task's dates), and — only when the project says so — being too far from the address or having no location. Check-out is never blocked, wherever you are. Accepting the task first is not required.
1. Find today's task
- Open the Site Connect app. It opens on the Task tab.
- Make sure Mine is selected at the top. Your tasks are listed day by day, today first.
- Tap the task you're about to start.
New task? Look for the notification
When a task is assigned or a schedule is published, the app sends a notification. Tap it to jump straight to the task.
2. Accept the task
A published scheduled task shows You haven't replied to this task with two buttons.
- Tap Accept to confirm you'll be there.
- Can't make it? Tap Decline. You can add a reason under Reason for declining, then tap Decline to send. Your scheduler sees your answer so they can find someone else.
Accepting isn't required to check in, but it tells the office you've seen the task. Your company can switch accept/decline off — then you won't see these buttons.
3. Check in when you arrive
- Find the check-in card
In the task, find the Check in to start card. Tap the address if you need directions.
- Tap Check in
The app gets your location (Getting your location…).
- Check the location card
- At the project address — you're on site.
- Away from the project address — it shows how far you are. Tap Get location again if your phone was still finding its position.
- Fill the form, if there is one
If the project has a check-in form (for example a safety checklist), fill it in.
- Confirm
Tap Check in at the bottom.
You'll see Checked in · timer running. The card turns green and shows Working on site with a running timer.
If the button is locked or check-in is refused
- Too far away — the project only allows check-ins within a set distance of its address. Move closer and try again.
- Waiting for location — turn on location services, or step outside if you're in a basement.
- Check-in opens on a date — the project doesn't allow check-in before the task's start date.
- This task's dates have passed — check-in closed after a date — the project only allows check-in on the task's own dates.
- No check-in card at all — check-in is off for this project. Ask your manager.
More cases are explained in Tasks and check-in.
4. Add photos and notes while you work
In the task, scroll to PHOTOS & FILES and tap Take photo to take a set of photos and say or type a note about them, or Add file to attach a document. The office sees everything on the task and in the project. If you have no signal, photos and voice notes are saved on the phone and sent automatically later. See Photos and notes.
5. Check out when you leave
Open the task again. The green card has two buttons:
- Check out — stops the timer. Use this at the end of each day on a job that takes several days.
- Check out & mark as done — stops the timer and marks your part of the task done.
If the project has a check-out form, fill it in first. Check-out is never blocked by your location.
Forgot to check out?
Site Connect closes forgotten check-ins automatically — at the end of your company's working hours, or at the task's end time for a scheduled task. The visit then shows as closed automatically. A check-out you make yourself after working hours is also cut back to the end of working hours and flagged for your manager. Tell your manager if the time is wrong.
6. See your hours
The My work tab shows the hours and site visits you've logged, day by day. See Work log.
What the office sees
While your crew works, the office can follow along on the web:
- Project › Check-in map — a pin for every check-in, showing whether the person was within range of the project address. See Check-in map.
- The task itself — every check-in and check-out appears as a card in the task's activity, with times, distance from the address and any form answers. See Check-ins on the task.
- The project's Work hours tab — total hours per person on the job. See Inside a project.
