Exports

Export is where Site Connect keeps files that it prepares in the background, ready for you to download. Each file can be downloaded for 7 days.

Where to find it

Menu: Utilities › Export · Address: hub.siteconnect.ai/utilities/exportsWho can use it: admins, and people whose role includes the Exports permission. See Who sees which files below.

Why this page is usually empty

Right now, the exports you can run in Site Connect download straight to your computer. For example, Export to Excel on the monthly timesheet saves the file as soon as it's ready — see Timesheets. The Excel export in Approvals works the same way. Those files never pass through this page.

So if the page says there are no export files yet, nothing is wrong. Files only show up here when a page prepares its export in the background.

Download a file

  1. Open Utilities › Export.
  2. Find the file. Each row shows the Content (what was exported, and when), the Status, the number of rows (Row), the File size and the time left to download it (Retention, for example "5 days left").
  3. When the file is ready, a download icon (Download file) appears at the end of the row. Click it. The file opens in a new browser tab, where you can save it.

While a file is Pending or Running, the list refreshes by itself every few seconds, so you can stay on the page and wait. Click Refresh to check again at any time.

The red badge on Utilities

A number on Utilities in the left menu counts your finished files that you haven't downloaded yet. It goes away once you download them. See Find your way around.

If an export fails

The row shows Error, with the reason right underneath. The most common one: a single file holds up to 50,000 rows. If more rows match, the export stops and asks you to narrow your filters — it never cuts the file short without telling you.

After 7 days

Once the Retention column says the file has expired, Site Connect refuses to download it and asks you to export again. Run the export again from the page it came from to get a fresh copy.

Delete a file early

Exported files can contain personal or pay data. If you exported the wrong thing, don't wait for the 7 days to run out:

  1. Click the trash icon (Delete export file) at the end of the row.
  2. Confirm with Delete.

The file is removed from storage immediately and can't be downloaded again. Deleting needs the Delete right on the Exports permission.

Who sees which files

The Exports permission decides whose files you see:

RightYou see
ViewOnly the files you exported yourself
TeamYour own files, plus files exported by people in the teams you manage
AllEvery file in the workspace

Admins see every file. Site Connect also keeps a record of each download — who downloaded which file, and when.

Good to know

  • Click Filters to show only files with a given status, for example the ones in Error.
  • The badge only counts files you exported yourself. Files other people exported never light it up, even if you can see them in the list.
